Ive got a SPECO volt gauge that Im installing in the EA (damn Digital cluster)
I want to connect the Volt gauge up to the alternator to get a accurate reading. Now how can I wire it up so the gauge shuts off when the car is turned off aswell?

Piece of ****. Put a relay in the line from the alternator, wire the trigger to an ignition source.

it would get a more accurate reading straight of the battery, as whats coming straight out of the alternator isnt necessarily whats going into the battery. there will be some volt drop if standard setup.
If you want an accurate reading of the charging rate, wired up to batt would be best |

Depends on what you want to know.
As the car runs of the alternator when running, then InitialD is right. If you want to know what the charge voltage to the battery is then wire it to the battery

u could use a switch and a couple of relays, to toggle between alternator and battery
