Unhappy CPfi to MPfi conversion !

Ok after spending the whole day destroying my old engine getting covered in oil and cursing a hell of a lot i finally got all the Mpfi gear off my old car (in my opinion anyway).
Now taking off the cfi gear and putting in the mpfi stuff is what scares me i dont want just a bodge job of cutting and taping up wires and having stuff half screwed up which i have been known to do lately. I have read the conversion document but half the stuff it talks about i dont know whether i have pulled it off let alone what it actually does.
Can this conversion be done even if my knowlede is only basic and should i be expecting any problems.

The old car was a 1989 mpfi fairmont ghia series 2

The new car is a 1988 cfi faimont series 1

all you guys that have done this mod before with the same cars or similar any pointers or tips that can be given would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

Mark

mine ended up being a faily simple process after i fugured out what i was doing, is ur car an auto, and is the donor car an auto? if they are then good, cause ull need the loom that had the 2 plugs off the TPS, otherwise ull be cutting wires all over the palce and that what i didnt want to do. i waited till i found the correct loom and i think that saved me alot of trouble

just make sure u have everything u need before u start, couple of things i ran into were (dont laugh) figuring how to move the aircon belt pully and getting the fuel lines round the right way (im a first time modifier...)

i was worried about the position of the dizzy for a while cause in all the pics the mpfi dizzy was rotated 90 degrees clockwise as apposed to the cfi one, but u dont have to change anything there at all, and u dont need the mpfi dizzy either, mine runs smooth as with the old one,

thats about all i can think of, but there heaps of ppl that have done so if uve got more questions, go for it

well im on my way now but i cant get the old manifold off cause i have now stripped one of my bolts and the other one is too hard to get to plus im past the point of safe return and now have no car so it looks like it has to get towed to a mechanic tomorrow to get fixed and around $600 is the fixing cost so hmmm not sure what to do ?

Mate, u need good tools to get at those hard bolts under the manifold...
If u end up doing the conversion yerself, make sure u do like was previouly said and get the correct loom. For mine i simply cut the wires and matched up the right wire colours to the correct sensors - EASY. Also, using the CFI dizzy is fine (not sure why ford decided to use 2 separate dizzys coz MPI isnot sequential injection and doesnt require a short tooth vane) but make sure you do reposition the dizzy with the TFI towards the front otherwise you wont be able to get to the dizzy clamp bolt later on. (clamp is also repositioned)
