finished painting it today in gloss black. Here's a few pics. The black looks better in the flesh than in the pics. Should help the engine stand out nicely in the bay not to mention hide all the oil ;)

Looks mad mate - brings it up beautifully.
How did you prep the bay? Bring it back to metal or just prep with 1200?

Me and Sunny just sanded it all back with 320 then 600 wet and dry. It was a bit rough to use 1200. Suprisingly you can't see any sanding marks though! The black is awesome, it just hides everything. That whole bay was done with 1/2ltr of paint....probably about a litre by the time u add hardener and thinners. |

yeah I was think the same thing with regards to overspray.
Hey Doug you guys seem to do alot of painting, can anyone suggest somewhere, prefferably on teh cheap side, that I can get just my exterior done? My paint isn't that bad now but the roof is getting bad!

nah no overspray.....maybe over the neighbours fence but that's about it :P Those massive $3 plastic drop sheets come in handy ;)
Polyal - I know Europaint in Bayswater do cheap resprays....Like $500 if they don't have to do any prep work. They painted Rip's car (Tiger_EL) and it came up pretty good. That was just the outside though. Not bad considering it includes paint. Maybe if your roof is no good you could just get that painted and then give the rest a buff.....like a proper buff where you actually sand the whole car down with 1500 then buff it. You'd be amazed how it can come up. |
