Default Shift Light Wiring

I am just curious if anyone has wired up a shift light.

I have just got one, and i am not too sure what i have to connect the wire up to get the rpm signal...

there is 3 wires, power, earth, and a signal wire which either goes to negative on a standard igtion, or a tacho terminal... a bit confused...

any help would be appreciated...

signal wire goes to tacho wire, will find one back of the dash cluster, i thinks its the same colour as the round plug single wire in the engine bay near the trapozoid plug (at the brake booster)

i connected the pulse from the shift light to the pink (no trace) wire at the back of the speedo wiring harness...

i have only heard of splitfire...

one little strange thing thats happening, is sometimes the light will come on randomly... just sorta stay on for a second...

i have noticed it if the car is in a mood and will just stall if you dont keep the revs up, and if it stalls it will come on...

at the moment its set around 3500rpm to come on, and say i might be doing 2000rpm and it will flash for a second... just strange random ...

also, say i will be up it, and it will come on at different rpm... say only a couple of hundred rpm different...
