hi guys, im getting an EA in 2 weeks and i have no idea about them. now i didn't say i have no idea about cars. its just i've never tinkered with EA's yet
ok question 1. Is there any way around the dicky air filter? 2. Down the track i wanna put multi point injection on my motor, can this be done what would i need? 3. Does EB central locking fit straight into EA's? 4. And the question you've all been waiting for, what cheap mods can i do? I know your gonna say head, cam, zurst they will be coming, but what can i do for small improvements now? i know a few tricks to do to others Gem's, commy ect, but what can i do to the EA? Cheers Jay |

1. No.
2. Yes, around $200 mark, sometimes more, sometimes less 3. Depends on which type of EB, but generally No. 4. MPFI is best BFYB, but also can do, Thermo fan conversion, manual conversion, serpentine belt conversion(not small mod).

I think it's 4 inch for the EA.
MPI conversion requires fuel pump, inlet manifold, distributor, ECU and probably more. If you do a search you'll find there is a thread on the topic every week here. |

no I used eb door trims, made a spacer ring of 5-6mm mdf, screwed that to the door over the 4" square holes, then bashed the overhanging bits with a hammer until they folded out of the way
then unscrewed the spacer and screwed the speakers and spacer back on together

The cheap aftermarket ones are readily availabe on Ebay. The genuine Ford ones cost over $200.

Take your time when looking on ebay for common things such as the clear indicators. There are many that regularly sell for $40-50 but every now and then you see a set sell for between $20-30 ;)
I just bought a pair of EA headlights & (amber) indicators for $26 As for a CFI air filter, I'm sure that the MPFI ones are a different shape, so it might be worth just getting a cheapy replacement filter in the meantime (if it's even needed) before undertaking an MPFI conversion. Welome to the land of E-Series! :sm_headba -Dave- |

Could cut a hole in the bonnet and stick the filter out the top with a scoop?
But pointless on a slow ea, lol |
