firstly can it be done hassle free? secondly will an au xr6 head yield more benefits than an e-series one?

Yes and Yes, go for it, use an AU metal head gasket and new head bolts, enjoy.

Just remember to use the AU rocker gear and cam.

yeh its the whole head and up. rocker gear and cam and valves and everything. thanks for the replies. my mate will definitely go ahead now.

the only thing i would think is will the EA computer be able to run the AU XR6 well enough, im not sure how big the cam is but i assume alot bigger than what the EA comp was ever designed for.
would that be a problem?

The EA cam is technically a big cam anyway, so it should cope, otherwsie source an XR ECU will make it go nicely.

the au head cam will work with your computer with out any problems the cam size isnt much bigger then the ea cam.

from what im told the AU head has smaller ports and valves so do it the other way round use a AU block (had a better crank) and a EL head as it flows more
thats what im told and use a JMM multi layer steel head gaskit , thin giving bit more compression thats my 2 cents
