Default Im over it

As of today, im over the e-series bug, im sick of spending money on fixing the car and everytime im happy with the car something goes wrong. After much stuffing around it was discovered that my ecu is stuffed (which makes me so happy with springnats coming up in two weeks).

so i now reckon the ef will go up for sale minus the stereo system and i might venture off and look into buying a mercedes or volkwagon van, installing the stereo, put some big shiney rims on it and then leave it alone.

thats my whinge for the day

I swear we must have been so lucky with the last two eseries. If people listened to you lot no one would every buy one!!

They are getting old and its to be expected that some things will bugger up. I think I have just been lucky.

I agree Stevo. It is an EF, so it is probably more than 10 year old.

Never had a problem with the EB that wasn't self inflicted, never had a problem with the NC (we'll ignore the door lock motor), don't see what's happening?

Don't forget an ECU for a Merc or VW will probably be worth more than the EF.

lol DUMPTEF, I'm feeling a bit of the same at the moment, I'll probably get over it eventually though

Went out to the car 15mins ago, started it, it stalled, then wouldn't start at all, thought it best I waste time on teh interweb over a nice cup of tea. I think my words were something like `m****ing hunk of s***'. My EA is now officially a fun A->B car, I'm not spending any more money than necessary on it.
Hey are v8's any more reliable than their i6 counterparts?

Bah, it's all part of owning an older car. I dunno about other people, but I do get 'over' my car when something breaks etc, but when I work on it (or watch others) I'm in love with it again! There is nothing better than fixing or replacing something yourself in my opinion.... But then again, I kind of enjoyed replacing my brother's head gasket hehehe!

New, second-hand, genuine and non-genuine parts are (usually) cheap and are readily available. Plus there is so much room for mods in a Falcon. I'd hate to have a Japanese car break down even a 1/3 of what an EA does in fear of parts cost and usually cramped engine bays!!

Dont do that!

It's too nice! I'd hate to sell my car, I couldn't imagine seeing someone else driving it around. It'd be awful!

I'm another one that's jumped on the 'over it' bandwagon ;) I used to love pulling out motors, putting cams in etc etc, but now if I have to do something like that I just feel like I'm wasting my weekend when I could be doing something that doesn't involve getting another 100 cuts on my hands. DUMTEF, for now I'd just replace the ECU but I know what you mean, it's just a matter of time before something else goes wrong.

For instance, my fuel pump died on me yesterday in the turning lane of Princess Hwy and Springvale Rd intersections :( $70 for a tow and I lost a job because of it. $200 for a new diff last weekend because the old one was making a horrible noise. And a new clutch and cable as well last weekend. It's all sweet now but I can't help thinking.....for how long??

My sister's B/F owns a 2002 VX Commodore. He drives that thing into the ground, redlines it all the time but nothing ever breaks. I don't even thrash mine and it still breaks, stops or falls apart....****es me off.

yeah Doug :P I bet your EA spanks his sik NAPOWR. : give his car 14 years and see how it goes then. I enjoy fixing my cars these days, i thought it was funny when chunks of metal flew out the side of my motor. My EA is pretty damn reliable anyways for the K's it's done, and I deffinately havn't replaced anything twice. ermm, fix your car Adam.
