Does anyone know of any way to data log the AU to see all the variables and problems?

depending on what sort of problems you were referring to...

A local tranny joint has a computer they plug in to the AU, select the model, year, and it lists any faults the car has logged in the last 40 starts; it identified that there was a fault with the TPS(??) switch on mine, and did so in 30 secs.

i would like to monitor my air fuel ratios, ignition timing, knock sensor, all temps etc. I want to see what variables in any of these items gives me an awesome feeling run.I want to see ..is it the fuel?Air temp? I want to know all times ,stops starts.I want to get intimate with my au. I dont think people try to understand them deeply enough.

SCT have exactly what you are after Stav. Only it wont give you any meaningful AFR because of the stock O2 sensors (narrowband).

The SCT datalogger can log multiple aux analogue inputs. Just need to buy yourself a wideband O2 kit as well.

Can you say $$$$$$ lol

There are wideband O2 kits available that output narrowband and datalog a heap of stuff. That only tells you whats going on though, doing something about it in an AU is a very different story. Anyone who can actually change has better equipment for measuring such things.

Other stand alone ECUs (such as 8860 etc) can also datalog

Do the flash tunes do data logging.?? Also I may be doing an article on the new AU edit soon for AU falcon .com if Casper is cool with that.

The current flash tuners (XCalibrator 1) do not do datalogging. SCT sold a product called the Raptor to do datalogging through the OBDII port.

Problem is the Raptor doesn't work on the new CAN bus, as used in Falcons from the BA.

SCT released a new version of the XCalibrator a couple of months ago in the states, imaginatively called XCalibrator 2. XCalibrator 2 includes the Raptor datalogging functionality w/support for CAN bus.

The OBDII standard allows you to grab between 5-10 data samples per second, which is good for almost bugger all. The Raptor doesn't actually use the OBDII Protocol to log the data. Because it knows the memory locations of all the control code and calibration data, it can query the EEC directly (instead of via the OBDII protocol).

They advertised the Raptor as being able to log 64 samples per second, but depending on the conditions it can actually log much more data.

Datalogging the activity of the EEC at the same time as the AFR, using a wideband O2 sensor, is pretty awesome stuff
