My cruise control just up and died the other day on the way home from work. The buttons weren't too healthy and after pushing them hard for a while they completely broke so I replaced them. But to my shock still no cruise control. Any one else had this problem or know what would be causing it?

I had this problem with the EF Ghia, it turned out to be a faulty brake switch. (worked it out and replaced it same day)

When I first got my car the cruise wasn't working, after stuffing around putting in some cable from the battery into the cabin and unplugging the cruise module to get it out of the way then plugging it back in again it worked! So maybe try that first.
Mine is now dead again and unplugging the module doesn't solve the problem, along with checking the brake light switch (assuming both the brake lights and the cruise work off the one switch the brake switch will be ok if you have brake lights working, can't tell if they're seperate swtiches on my wiring diagrams and there's only one on the pedal) also check the clutch pedal switch, if it's connected, dunno if you would've hooked it up with your conversion Also check the brake pressure switch which I'm assuming is the switch on the master cylinder? Can anyone else verify that or have the correct location? The diagram doesn't give a location and the wire colour's match up to the wire's going into the module. Mine's leaking and I've cleaned the terminals up and tried with it plugged in and unplugged and it hasn't fixed it for me.

Mine would only work sometimes, but i chased the problem to the switch at the clutch pedal-now held in place with a zip-tie.

My cruise control is slowly dieing as well. My "Set Acc" button works about 50% of the time. My "Cst Res" button only about 5% of the time, so I basically have to rely on the "Set Acc" button. I asked the mechanic about it and he checked the metal rings on the back of the steering wheel for wear and tear. They still looked pretty good though. Have you checked them? If there's no contact between the metals, the cruise won't work

Ckeck the switch at the brake pedal, often its not in properly and wont allow the cruise to engage. Remember the button on the switch has to be fully depressed against the pedal.
