That sounds wrong ... I am sure all the AUII's had aircon from factory. Even the base models.

Is it an XL model???

mmmmm.......It doesn't sound right mine is a base line 2000 au2 forte & it has A/c. Go to the wreckers or find someone who is wrecking one.

No A/C button on the right hand side of the radio ?????
Damn ... I thought they would have them in standard after the E-series.

Although the XL ute's in the AUs were pretty pov when it came to features (thank goodness I got the XLS (I love my a/c, all power options, cruise, 4-speaker sound [sound getting upgraded to many more speakers though ... hee hee])

But back on topic ... being an SII model it'd have A/C as standard ... AUI I can forgive not having A/C as standard though ... but an AUII ... oh well.

Air conditioning was optional on all AUI and AUII utes, from XL to XR. Air conditioning was optional for all AUIII utes except for the XR utes.

The car wasnt sold by the Colac Ford dealer in Vic and the colour of the ute is red as a farmer in Colac had a S2 ute and the only AU I've ever seen without A/C.

Seen quite a few AU utes with no A/C. Mostly lower spec XL models. Must be trade utes.

Try REPCO,I used to work in one of their branches about 5 years ago (before the AU) we sold most components needed hoses/compressor/condensor/fittings/RD/relays etc.

I remember the compressors were the same brand (can't think of the brand) as genuine FORD.

I hope this helps!

Don't jump to the deal just yet. Do your research and findout what parts are needed for airconditioning. I remember back in the early 1990's Toyota and the like were still offering dealer fitted airconditioning units to wide body SV22 Camry's (we got it done to ours).

I'm sure if you went to the wreakers you can source some external bits, condensor, compressor in relatively good condition. For the more tricky bits source the parts new. Try a few airconditioning specialists to findout how much labour it would be to fit the parts if you source it. If the shop is genuine they may even help you source the parts for a reasonable price.

To me $2500 sounds expensive.

my work email is leanne.mott@lyonsaircon.com.au

we are in WA but i have many contacts in the business and i would be very suprised if we couldn't help in some way

Its amazing why some farmers & tradies would order a late model car without air & power steering. Tight wads.

No A/C I can understand, but no power steering?? In a late model ute?? That would be close to if not impossible to steer, even for Arnie! :

The AU has an orifice tube instead of a thermal extraction valve. Also please start a new thread next time.
