Having a look at the mods that I have done to my car (see below) what sort of gains would I get from a chip, what brand is the way to go, approx cost supply, fit and tune, where in Melb is good for it and is it really worth it?

To get the best from a chip, it really needs to be custom tuned like the chiptorque custom chips or the unichips. Chiptorque don't do too bad off the shelf tunes though, especially for mildly modified engines. Don't expect big power increases, IMO an off the shelf chip may get you 5-10kw while a custom tune will generally get around 10kw.
IMO I dont think they are worth the money until you have a lot of mods on board, or at least until you are finished modifying the engine. Also if you have plans for some serious mods down the track, there are some full aftermarket computers such as the EMS Stinger which will only set you back a bit more than a custom tuned chiptorque or unichip plus will give tons more tunability and potential in the future. |

An off the shelf chiptorque is around $600 and the custom tuned ones are a few hundred more from memory (but you need a chiptorque dealer who is set up to do the tuning and I dont think there are many around). Unichips are generally $1100+ to fit and tune, or you can look at some complete aftermarket computers which start from just under $2k fitted and tuned.

HSVETAR... if u mean the standard XR6 ECU. Dont bother with it. It is still factory tuned for drivability and economy. You would be lucky to see 2-3kws. Go a chiptorque chip. They plug straight in and like EDXR8 said, they r pretty good off the shelf and if i remember rightly, the boys at chiptorque said their HP2 chips are tuned for the XR cam.

dam i thought it would be more than that. so dont bother with the XR6 ECU, so bout $600 for the chiptorque then. sounds like a plan.
