Default diff gears dilema

hey guys, i have a query for some of u in the know,
i have a 93 ed fairmont that i have just converted to manual, the diff ratio is currently 3.08. i have previously owened a eb falcon 5 speed with 3.27 ratio and seemed to accelerate so much quicker, so my question is what gear ratio should i choose for my car now and were can i buyu gear ratios from:
does anyone know were to find 3.7 lsd's centers and how much they would cost?
any info would be great guys cheers

Personally I would (and I am soon) just go to the wreckers and get a disc to disc diff from a XR with the 3:45 gears. That should help your acceleration probs.

you also have to take into consideration, in what condition the diff is in and the rest of your driveline...

and some t5's are slightly different geared.

i would g0 3.7's... good highway gear, and even better than 3.45's. Rollin had 3.9's and he was able to do 1.9 second 60ft's at the drags. the good thing about getting a complete xr diff is that you have the lsd, but then you dont know the condition, so it may need a rebuild which will cost around $500, which is the same as a rebuilt replacement lsd.

if you have any questions please ask me or Rollin...

4.11s might mean you're forever going through the gears (if you have a T5). Of course, behind an auto it's a different story, especially with the uber tall 1st gear!

i normally have a 3 speed manual.. 1, 3, 5... or 2, 4, 5... easy to skip gears if you want...

the only reason i am happy with 4.11's is that i have a taller 5th gear. otherwise i wouldnt go that shorter diff gear. 3.9's would be the highest i would go... definitely worth it though...

I'd go 3.9's max. Depends on what box you have in it but a lot of the time if you go higher like 4.11's then you'll be doing an extra gear change just before the line at the drags. 3.9's will have u almost at the redline b4 u cross the line.

when i had 3.9's i was doing like 4700rpm at the line, same with Rollin... now with 4.11's its a bit closer to 4900...

but now with a nice big cam (2400rpm to 5800rpm), limiter moved to 6000rpm, i'll got a bit more out of the bad girl...

I have 3.45:1 LSD and can do 2.060 60 ft times on 17s straight off the street. EL XR8 manual. Yet i can still get under 10L per 100km on a trip sitting on 115-120kmh. I am very happy with this gearing for an all round ratio.

I have know idea what clutch but it is quite firm. after 9 consecitive runs with 2nd gear burnouts I could just start to feel it go off a little. I cant remember exactly what rpm, didnt get it totaly sorted but around 2800-3200 rpm, take up the slack, Let clutch out and just drive on the right foot untill its up and going. done 2 runs out of 9 into the 2.0's 60ft. and 3 in the 2.1's
With a better reaction time and good tyres would cut a lot off the ET and 60ft's
