Dam that is low!
I was accused yesterday of being involved in a hit and run, the only good thing is that at the time of the incident I was at a family Birthday with 20 witnesses.

Unfortunally it happens.

It is illegal but people don't worry about that.

Very low indeed

I accidently backed into a brand new Goldwing...OMG!! I couldn't find the owner anywhere so I left a note saying how sorry I was and with my details. I looked at the damage and the mirror housing was scratched and the cowl had the tiniest scratch on it too but no actual panel damage. Cost me $985 to fix. So although something I would never do I can understand why some people walk away....they just can't afford to open themselves up to fault in any accident because they will get all their repairs done and charge you for it. This guy got everything replaced new rather than fixed. He had a right to have that done and I had to pay for it but sorry I can see why some people do it.

You shouldnt drive a car if you have no insurance or cant afford to fix another persons car when an accedent is your fault, there is no excuse.
if you hit and run you might aswell ROB the person aswell cause they now have to fit the bill and just because the person has a nice car does not make anymore well of than yourself.

I agree with Raven 100%.

There is no reason to do a runner! If you can't afford the privilege or don’t have the responsibility then don’t drive!!

Hey I never said it was anything I would do, both my cars are comprehensively insured and I paid up the money in cash when I paid out the guy who owned the goldwing. All I said was I sometimes understand why they do it. As for the you shouldn't drive if you can't afford the insurance and such. When my husband was working at the meatworks in Townsville there was a ton of young guys no more than 17 to 19 years old scratching to get by. They didn't have enough hours to do more than pay their rent and food and couldn't' get jobs elsewhere. They needed to have a car to get to work as its out of town and no other transport and the police would sit and pull them off the road at 5.30am on their way to work. If one of these poor boys accidentally scratched another car and walked away I would understand as they almost need to steal to get by anyway. Its nice to live on that side of life there getting by is easy or going to take and getting something from the government but these young fellas made there own way in life and didn't ask the government to pay for them. I don't think life is as black and white as all that...do I think its wrong to walk away and not leave details..yes I do...do I understand why it sometimes happens..yep I do...and do I think some people are just down right criminal...yes I do...has it happened to me...yes it has which is why I wouldn't do it to anyone else.

sorry to say, i dont have insurance, either do alot of people on the streets, my old man hasnt had insurance for 30 years and has never been in an accident that was his fault, he only got insurance on the ef recently because of money troubles that if he did hit another car he couldnt fork it all out,

and how do u kno they didnt have insurance? maybe they simply didnt want to pay the premium.

most accidents are not worth forking out premiums over. and some may cost a tad more, so its cheaper to stay away from insurance *in most cases... if u claim now, not only are u paying the "premium" but nxt year u pay wen ya renewal comes along!

I agree about the excess thats why I paid out the goldwing guy rather than go through my insurance. my excess would have been $350 and I would have lost my no claim discount. Just not worth it.

You guys arent in the cronulla area are you??

Naa, on a serious note, that is damn shameful mate. You never know though, somebody could have seen it and reported their plates to the cops. So try giving them a call and you could be in luck.

I know if i saw a hit and run, thats the first thing id do, write down the no. plates and report it.

Tuff luck mate.

But it suxz even more when you are in my predicament. Someone hits you, but somehow its your fault and insurance don't really care as they just agree with the other party. Currently I'm driving my car uninsured but only to and from work. Its only 5 minutes up the road and by doing 10 km under the limit just allows to have more of a reaction time if needed. But even now for me to insure the EB other than my current insurance just is ridiculous. I'm starting to get to a point where I will leave it unisured and only drive it to and from work. It's too bloody exepnsive especially for people like myself who work twice and a week and want a life.

But still its pathetic for someone to do that. Very very low.

Niko that does suck major ***, i had some monkey *** swipe my car (front right quater) in a shopping centre as i was approaching, so i jumped in my car, chased him down and ripped him out of his drivers seat and demanded to see his licence, he ended up being charged for leaving the scene of an accident.

Then when i had my car in for repairs and went on holidays, a tow truck swiped my left side of my car scratching the front and rear LHS passenger doors, cop that!!! It was repaired and resprayed for free of course, what a disaster!!

Anyone who leaves the scene of an accident without leaving details deserves a stern kick in the butt, no excuses.
