Hey guys
Just wondering what the process would be on fitting up a trip computer to my EL XR6. Is it just a matter of replacing the stock clock unit with the trip unit and plugging it in or does it have to be wired up? The clock screen in the car is buggered, the light wont come on, so i thought id give the trip unit a go. Cheers Nick |

And how hard would it be to get all these parts or hooking it up? Is it worth it?

you need to use the existing wiring from the clock, you also need to run a wire from the cluster to the trip computer and possible tap into 1 other wire.
There is a doco on it on fordmods.com its pretty easy. if you get a trip computer, grab the plug for it too. hxxp://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=32

I just did my EL GLi yesterday... not hard... theres three wires you have to run to the standard clock plug... only one thats pain is from the RHS dash connector, to get to it you hve to take the dash fascia out and the dash... but it allows you to hide/run the wiring really easily when it's out...
All in all its not to hard... just a ИИИИИ pulling the car apart....and making the wires go in to the existing plug... or you could just askefor the plug with the unit and snip the exisiting wires and re-solder!

I have the Ford instruction sheet for fitting EF/EL trip computers to non trip computer equipped model, GLi, Futura and XRs.
Its rather easy with these instructions/diagrams. PM me if you want a copy.
