got in car and noticed throttle pedal seems to be stuck, as if it is catching on something, but when you push it harder it breaks free and works fine until you take your foot off the pedal and then try to reapply it on again.
Sprayed all cables, bushes,etc with silicon lube. Didnt drive car for a week and when I got in today it was heaps worse, but did get a bitter after use, still not good but. Any one else had this prob?????????? |

Are you sure it's the pedal and not the engine side of the linkage? It could be stuck, making the pedal seem stuck.
Have you got aftermarket pedal covers? If so, it could be the screws getting stuck in the floor mats/carpet.

I'd be checking the throttle body myself, sounds like its "sticking" closed.

Once, where the cable outer is located on the rocker cover, it come out and this brang the revs up considerably. I secured it back in place with the assistance of a cable tie, and let the dealer fix it up at the next visit. Car was still under wtty but.

I've had a similar problem, after greasing everything throttle related I could see I took the plastic intake tube off the throttle body end and cleaned inside the throttle body and butterfly (push the butterfly open and wipe it clean - you might see a buildup of dirt causing it to stick). Use a Clean rag that isn't going to leave any material behind and just dip it in petrol to use as a cleaning agent. This fixed up my sticky accelerator pedal.

running an oiled filter? the oil could be sticking the butterfly on the throttle

Looks like its fixed, thanx guys. I would never have thought that it would be the butterfly sticking.
Took off the rubber intake tube and sprayed the butterfly with carby cleaner. Heaps of gunk came out, especially on the edge of the butterfly and the face where its seats closed. I do have a K@N filter so perhaps oil was making its way in there as well. Fingers crossed cause it was really stuck tight for a while. Thanx to all who contributed |
