Hey guys...
I am after an upgrade and ive been looking at some XR8's. EF's dont do much for me and EL's are out of my price range, so it looks like a s2 EB XR8 is the go as I definatley want/need a manual. What should I be looking for? And how much do you think is a good price? Ive heard the old weezer is a pretty tough unit, but its a ford so there has to be something. I am having a look at one tomorrow or tuesday, so ill tell you what I think. Are they that much slower than a stock I6 with a T5. I guess they will have the LSD in its favour. Your help will be much appreciated...cheers guys!

Extractors + exhaust system will cost more than an equivalent I6 setup, but that'll help the 5.0 breathe out a bit better.
As for breathing in, consider the following items: 65mm or larger t/b 70mm or larger MAF housing (or aftermarket MAF) Explorer intake manifold upper & lower (or aftermarket) These will make a windsor breathe better and put a 5.0 ahead of a warm six. After that it gets pricey (heads, cam, etc) -Dave- |

I should mention that the larger t/b and MAF probably won't add to the total kws produced, as the HO intake manifold has a 55mm inlet from the t/b. But they might fatten the power curve. But when you combine these with a better intake manifold, they'll all compliment each other and add to the total power figure.
Mine feels like this. I mean, it feels more responsive with normal/spirited driving with a 65mm t/b and a 70mm MAF, but not quicker at WOT compared to the stock components. The exhaust system I have felt like it freed up some power though. Windsor. A great motor, hobbled with crap factory ancillaries! |

cool thanks guys...I dont think I can make the trip up today but hopefully tomorrow I can have a look at one.
As for mods, the ones Ghia 5L pointed out seem to be the popular choice, exhaust is a must, thats why im going 8 nistead of 6. As for cams I dont know if ill go that far, ill be looking at superchargering as another way.

Think of the EB-EL Windsor as being like Andy Kipple from Little Britain.
It seems hobbled and handicapped at first, but deep down it really wants to go absolutely nutbar :P "Andy, how'd you get up in that tree?" "I fell" |

wayne..I was looking at a RS2000 escort but it didn't work out.
Are you 100% sure that one you are talking about (the pinkish one) is an XR8? If it was a manual I would have brought it by now. If its cheap enough perhaps I could be swayed to an auto. Ill have a look at it tomorrow.
