Default Diagnosis Needed EA FAIRMONT

Wife drove car 150 km to Perth. Engine has been running hot. The coolent sensor light came on. Stopped car, upon restart engine ran very rough. Drove 3 km to service station and added about 5 litres of water. She went to restart car and the engine shook, shuddered and generally make the car run like crap. Once drive engaged it stalled. RACWA man diagnosed head gasket gone! Had car towed to city and left at inlaws house. When I got there 4 hours later I put key in car ran fine - drove it for 1/2 hour got engine hot - no prob.

It's got me stuffed!
Overheating problem?
Fuel block?
Vapour lock?
Computer module going?

I HAVEN'T A CLUE!!!!! HEEEEELP!!!

Suggest giving your cooling system a pressure test to see what it does, I doubt it's any of the other thing's you mentioned, the need for 5ltr of water is a pretty clear indicator.
Your local workshop will have the gear to pressurise it & I doubt they'd charge you for it.
