Should I have any problem dispacthing a 99 Civic basically stock cept for cat-back exhaust and good tyres at a track day coming up? This guy seems pretty certain that i'd "just" get him on the straights but it'd be all over on the corners cos of the weight difference. I've got the mods as in sig. Personally I think he's got no chance but just want other people's opinions!

Civic is manual non-VTEC and he says it does 0-100 in 10.3... dunno how he measured that though?

Yeah how quick are the EFII Ghia's 8 point something stock to 100? He was soo convinced though that he'd give me a beating because of the corners but Wakefield has a fat straight which i can use to my advantage!

I dunno much about track/circuit but it'd be interesting nonetheless. I think you should have him (more power, 3.45 LSD). What suspension setup do you have in your car? You could take advantage and get some bigger sway bars put in ($70 EL GT one up front), decent shocks and springs and you'd no doubt cream him.

10.3 is a bit dull by stock E series standards, but practically any small car with suspension mods should handle racetrack corners a fair bit better. It will be an interesting one, keep us posted!

Ah not really sure about the suspension actually... I've been told by dad that he got the Tickford suspension pack when he bought the car new but it didnt come with any of the Tickford body kit or anything. I've checked for yellow shocks and doesnt seem to have them but does have yellow markings down the shocks... there not entirely yellow though? We had an EL Fairmont aswell and parked them side by side on level ground and the Ghia was noticably lower all over. Can I order the GT sway bars direct from Ford? If so would you happen to know the number I can use to identify them to the parts guy?

Don't forget drivers, I have no idea how well either of you can drive your cars on the limit, but this will make more difference than a few simple mods.

Does your car have stock brakes DaveO? They will be pretty much on the floor before you finish 5 laps, even at a short track like Wakefield Park.

Tickford suspension won't be much chop at a racetrack, thicker swaybars (front and rear) will probably be the best bang for your buck mod, as well as a decent wheel alignment with some extra castor dialled in.

Car has stock brakes but hoping to slap on some DBA slotted rotors and either bendix or greenstuff pads. I know what you mean about the brakes they are my biggest concern as I have smoked them before, wasnt cool had to pull over and let them cool off for bout 15 mins. Suprisingly they didnt warp!

stall up ur auto on the brake and accel and launch and u will munch him, my Centrepoint with 2.77 and with cat back and headers did 10 seconds too 100, n u got multipoint and better diff then that, go for it!

THose civics hug the corners nicely. Sure you will get the jump at teh start but you will have no chance on the corners. Your auto will not help... :(

Seriously you will struggle without manual nad some susp work in a falcon against anything on the track.

It's usually best to drive around gently for those 15 mins rather than pull over, as the pads sit over one part of the disc and cause uneven cooling.

He also mentioned that unless we have cams license theres no overtaking on the corners... Don't know if this is true or not but that means he's gonna be getting annoyed sitting on my tail throughout the twisites while I take my jolly good time then floor it on the straight again!
