sorry off topic question here: in the second picture right at the end of the plenum on the firewall is a plastic box mounted to the firewall, must have some kind of electronics in there but what dare I ask?

in my 89 Wagon, the box loos new and their is a sticker saying 07/2004 on there, I'm wondering what they repalced!

but looks dam nice under that hood!

That is looking awesome, some nice work has been put into that.

All I can say, I don't know what the COPs are like in QLD, but in Vic (Dark coloured car, Big shiny cooler) would be COP BAIT just about every where.
None the less its fantastic.

In vic, as far as I know, its more like ~$3000 if you want it properly done!

Vic requires an ADR emmisions test to engineer a turbo falcon. Its $3000 for the test pass OR fail + the rest of the costs for the engineer. All up you would probably be looking at 4-5k provioded you pass emmisions first time. Yep vic sucks... :

How hard is it to fit that cooler behind the front bar?
did you have to grind and cut the bar itself?

in s.a its also 3K for emissions testing, and everywhere else but qld i think...

and it would be a hell of a lot harder to pass than you'd think

NSW you don't pay for emmisions testing.
still have to get it engineered though.
its not $3k for the testing, hence why i'm asking where you guys heard $3k from?

its not that hard to pass if you work with your tuner and plan ahead.

They likely heard it from me, A few engineers told me the test was roughly $3K when I was looking into it. They couldnt refer to any of the places spefically though :jab:

Are you sure its not that hard to pass? Who said it was easy? They can tune my car :P

Im still not sure I will go through with it in the torana if I cant find someone who will go via the chassis ADR's.

Dynomotive was able to give us (Rmyers enquired) a price of $1600 for the emmisions test, plus the usual engineering prices.
the car is specifically tuned to pass emmisions (they can tune it with the gas analyser) then take it back for the road tune once passed.
all up it was roughly a $2500-$3000 job.

Add tuning to that and the risk of failing the test and it starts to look really non cost effective. :( LPG would make it easier but it still isnt a fool proof method is it? Can they guarantee you will pass?

Thats about the cost of 20 seperate defects if you dont mind taking it all back to stock in between.

Mine is easy as the replacement engine is going to be carby powered! All I need to do is an engine swap then remove the high pressure fuel pump and replace the stock exhaust.

that was inclusive of tuning, $1600 for emmisions, and generally $700ish for engineering fees.
guess it depends what ur tuning bill is usually like.
they were fairly confident in the process so maybe give them a call about it.
i agree its still a very expensive task, and even i'm considering giving it a miss.
far worse things then being defected.
