Im going to be putting a stage 2 cam into my EF in the next 2-3 weeks and I was wondering if I should bother going the full sha-bang and pull the head off and do the valve springs while i'm at it? It's got 230,000 on the clock and is still running like a dream.
Normally im the sort of person that would do both and go right out on it, but in this case im going to be purchasing an EL or AU motor with low km's in a couple of months to dump all my money into so I want the engine I have now to go a bit harder and be a bit easier on the 'ol hip pocket fuel wise till I get that motor in but don't want to spend a great deal of money or time on it. Thoughts/suggestions? Should I bother removing the head & replace the valve springs? |

you can change the valve springs without removing the head. if your going to be getting a worked motor in a couple of months i wouldnt bother with a cam that needs springs. get a wade 1004 112 or something along thoses lines.

I figured i'd drop the cam into this one as a quick mod for the time being then remove it and re-fit it along with new springs into the new engine when the time comes. Main question is will the cam make a decent differnce in my current motor even if I don't fit new springs?
