It will be, higher K's and Condition down would be the same as todays EB.

You'd also hope technology get's further in 12 years.

Yep, no problem at all, infact i reckon 2002 BA XT's will be worth about 5 grand in only another 5 years.

Look at AU price that, the ar$e has fallend out of them in the last 9 months. AU Forte are worth only 8k, less at auctions.

In fact only 2 years ago, EF/EL's were worth 8-10k know a good EF Gli is worth only 4.5k.

New car sales, higher petrol, the cheapness of car (relative to inflation) and the move to korean shozboxes kill prices of our Falcon's.

There's a few factors to consider. A written-off ex-taxi BA would probably be $3k today... whereas a nice BA XR8 will probably fetch reasonable money for a while after the initial resale hit. EL XR8s are damn expensive today compared to, say, Fairmont equivalents - and in many respects you get less to show for it.

The B series resale values will be hit by the AU resale (ie would you pay twice as much for an XT compared to a year-older Forte?) and fuel prices and the dwindling large car segment in general will also be factors. The Avalon is another car that will get dirt cheap for what it is. But don't assume that $3k will buy something immaculate with low kms, nothing to be spend on it and zero problems...

well you can buy pretty good BA's are $14000 from dealers these days!!

give it 5 years or so and they will be worth nothing.

The AU is an odd case and should be ignored with regards to resale, has nothing to do with BA's

But I hope in 5 years we can all buy something better than a BA anyway

Ive seen EL Fairmont Ghias go for 5k these days, and AU XR6's and AU XR8's go for 10k at auctions, base model Forte are about 8k from what ive seen.
The BA XR6 and T's are falling in value very quickly, look in the right places you can pick up an XR6T for 21-22k now. The base model BA are already around 15k

In 12 years time, you will pick up a BA XR6 or XR6T for about 5k at a guesstimate.

How much is a good 12 year old falcon now in say XR6 form? That should be a resonable guide as too what a 12 year old BA XR6 would be worth in 12 years fron now.

Yup before you know it BA's will be under $5000 and we will remember back when they were 30,000!
The kids who are currently in primary will buy BAT's on their P's! Removing the alloys and fitting silver steel wheels for the 'ex-cop' look.

Hey i like the ex-cop look, and yes im a P-plater. Dont think id remove mags for it though (well maybe the futura mags), but it does certainly look better than the all AU3/BAI/BAII hubcap.

but u have to contrbute the factor that car de value quicker in the first few years then the rest of the years. so they may well be $5000 in 5 years or they may start to even out a bit and stay at say $10000 in 5 years u cant tell at all with cars.

12 years time the price of oil is going to be so disgusting you will have to be rich. I reckon we'll be worrying more about how many cycles you get out of the battery technology and will be running a lot of hybrid vehicles.
