Hey Guys,
My EA plans have changed slightly...... The turbo is now going on the EF. Because this isn't going to cost anywhere near as much to do as the EA, I am going to get a shop to do it. Can anyone recommend a place in Central NSW or Sydney who is capable of fitting and tuning an EMS 8860 ECU and installing the turbo/cooler/piping/exhaust etc let me know. The EF is going to make a more refined starting point for the turbo. The engine is going to stay as is, except for the worked head I had ready for the EA, meaning my EA bottom end is now for sale (if anyone is interested have a look here: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=4991 ) I have also fitted the AU Fairmont seats into the EF and a tip for anyone keen on doing this......do it!!! It's **** easy! All you have to do is bolt the AU cushions to the EF base, no mods required and the rears go in with minimal mods. Regards Daniel

I think it's days are numbered, I'll stick in in the paper for $300 and if I get no bites, a phone call to the local auto dismantlers will be in order :P

John, the mods are quite simple:
1. The AU bolsters need a bit of plastic cut out of the back of them so they dont foul, as well as a hole drilled in the side for the seat striker pin. 2. The striker pin needs to be ground flat on one side so it engages in the AU seat, it's hard to explain, I'll get some pics if you like. 3. The rear bench clips in differently to the EF seat so 2 elongated holes need to be made in the floor and the clips found in the AU setup put in, at this stage I haven't got to this bit yet, it's just zip tied in, lol!!

Poor EA. :( I though it was all prepped for paint etc.. MN will be dissapointed.
EF Turbo sounds like fun though. Good Luck with it all. |

Was about to start prepping it for paint, it's stripped down though. I know MN will be dissappointed, I am as well, but reality hit me...It needed a lot more work and a fair bit more money spending on it to get it going and looking good and the likelyhood of me being about to fork out $800 for 2 cars each year for rego then another $500+ for insurance is pretty slim :(

Good choice Daniel, The EF is a much better car and will respond just as well if not better to the turbo.

Yea i would choose an EF anyday.
Im curious though, you say it wont cost anywhere near as much to turbo the EF than it will to turbo an EA. Why do you say that? |

It'll be cheaper to do the EF because it's actually in roadworthy condition. Not only would I have to install the turbo gear in the EA, the WHOLE car needed rebuilding!

Oh i see. I thought you meant the turbo installation itself was more difficult on an EF than an EA and was confused.
