hey people, i need some info on what you did to your wiring loom when converting from an automatic to a manual gearbox in your ef...
does the loom need to be changed at all for the car to run properly, or is it ok to leave the auto loom sitting there unused? and to get the car running with the auto computer, what needed to be changed/fooled and did the car still run ok? and does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram and pinouts for the EF (not EL, which is in the tech documents) auto loom? thanks Ben |

hmm ok, so the four-pin connector on the gear selector is the reverse switch and neautral/park starter lockout...
there is an 8 pin connector coming from the ea gearbox that already has these outputs on it, as well as the speedo sensor. there is also a matching plug on the ef loom, but the gearbox side has the neutral switch removed (loom/computer side has plugs there though), would the auto computer recognise those inputs instead? i am still going to have to tell it that its in drive an isnt running at 800 degrees though... will the engine run in normal mode (not limp home), and still give me normal ignition advance with this setup? or will i have to buy a manual computer whatever happens. I take it there must be a market out there for a load bank attached to an adaptor loom though. just plug manual loom into one side and auto loom into the other... no more fault codes... thanks Ben Last edited by BLSTIC; 07-06-2006 at 03:57 PM. no, ignore the loom on the ea box, all u use from that is the speedo wire, 3 pin round plug. get 2 wires, put 2 female blades on one end, and 2 male blades on the other, plug the 2 female ones onto the reverse sensor (bout half way up the g/box) and the other 2 into the 4 pin plug that is hanging from ur car, the other 2 in that 4 pin is ur neutral switch, just bridge that, plug ur speedo gear in and cable tie those suckers somwere. to get it out of LHM u need to get 2 resistors (the ones mentioned in the tut) and follow the tut directions and it will work, dont worry about any other plug down there
you dont need a manual ecu, the only dif will be that it will idle high somtimes and thats pretty much it |
