Default AU water leak in boot

Has anyone had trouble with water leak in AUIII into sedan boot?
Dont open much but been raining in perth and went to put something in boot today and found condensation...opened rear door and folded down rear seat looked through to boot and saw daylight between seal and boot lid...Has anyone had the same problem? Is it just the seal not seated properly or damaged or actual boot lid? Hasnt been in accident as far as i no all looks original..Is it a factory fault? only bought this car 8 months ago and was thinkin of takin to dealer with extended warranty...But been stuffed around before with dealer...The jack and tools are all rusted too...

I think its a common thing with the AU's. Mine leaks in I think around the holes for the rear wing

Yeah mine does too, the rear wings the culprit alright. I think someone had posted the same question and there were various solutions. I might take mine off and stick some silicone round the legs, I know it won't last as someone else had done this which only turned out to be a quick fix and not permanent.

wouldn't be top right side of the boot floor would it? mine leaked for a while there but I figured it was the angle the car was sitting when I was washing it. I also get the condensation on the boot lid and usually when I open the boot all the water runs out of the lid and onto the floor hahaha

Any leaks in the mounting holes for the rear wing will see the water leak into the rain channel around the boot - iw water should not get in because of this.

AU1s leak from the electrical connection grommet which actually goes into the boot from the foot of the AU1 wing (and therefore, any AU2 S pac etc, IIRC).

Sounds like the gap between the rear screen could be the culprit.

This is what I originally was thinking, that grommet seems to let in a fair bit of a leak, nothing that a small bit of silicon can't fix I reckon. I'm gonna have a good look at where my leaks coming from as it's getting quite bad.

as previously said, it's common. Most cars will have these glitches and it's nothing really so jumping on it at an early stage will give you some much needed piece of mind. :1syellow1

boot seals do leak occasionally, another very common leak is through the number plate mounting lugs, especially when people fit their number plates with screws that are too long and puncture the back of the lug, which then lets the boot lid fill with water, which then leaks into the boot when its opened

Mine has a decent leak, but I cant work out where.
When it was really pooring on day, I got in the boot through the back seat (to avoid opening boot and letting water in) and looked/felt all around for water coming in... none.

But other days there's a tonne of water in there, which has led me to conclude it happens when it's driven... but I am not sure and cant find any 'source'.

I found I had a leak from the hole where the electrical cables come out of the body (top right hand corner of boot aperture) to go into the bootlid. There is a rubber sleeve over the whole lot but it had popped out of the aforementioned hole. I bent the plastic lugs out a bit, stuffed it back into the hole and it hasn't leaked since.

My AUII had a boot leak when new. The original owner left some dockets from warranty work in the glovebox which indicated they had to apply silicon sealant somewhere or other.

The car hasn't leaked water into the boot while I've owned it. I don't have a wing.

The car is in at the panelbeaters at the moment, and these dockets are still in the glove box. I'll have the car back in 2 weeks and I'll try and work out what exactly was done.

Update

Took it to the ford dealer where i purchased it and they said isnt covered under extended warranty (first day iv had off in ages so i could get stuff done). Rang Ford australia there basically backing the dealer and no1 has offered to help fix fault at all, even though this fault has been there from day dote. Obviously the last owner didnt care, or couldnt be botherd fixing or maybe just wasnt aware. So i have inherited a factory fault and Ford doesnt care. Its not as if its going to cost Ford **** all to fix. Not happy with this situation as i have forked out good money for this car. So sadly im going to get it fixed properly by a panel beater and then going to to sell this peice of ****! Last newish or new ford ill ever buy!

Make sure you dont have rust holes around near the bottoms of the boot struts, this area could be a culprit as alot of people have this area rust out.

As originally mentioned earlier about that gap seen at the back of the boot near the bottom of rear window ( seen with the back seat down ) , check your bolts on the hinges and make sure they are not loose , alsmost sounds like the boot has tilted down towards the bumper-bar and up and away from the seal near the window / could of maybe happened from closing the boot heaps , the force of pulling it down might of put it out a bit .

Maybe try loosen 1 bolt on either side of the boot hinges on the boot ( only loosen 1 on each side , the lower bolts closer to the body of the car ) , then with the boot up , push it up and towards the front of the car just that little bit futher than where it is sitting then re-tighten the bolts , this will tilt the back of the boot down near the window (closing the gap hopefully ) , but will also raise the boot off the rear bumber a bit . gl . By right you shouldnt have this gap , so it sounds like something is out of whack or misaligned .

A bad design fault with the AU sedan specially if the ball joint snaps off. It is a panel beater job. I did posted in the www.aufalcon.com how to fix in it workshop section & it was rusting there within the car being 3 years old

i have to make apologies for some comments i have mde about this problem. My car is at the panel shop at moment nad it turns out that the leak is actually coming through the rear windscreen. Apparantly the screen has been out and not resealed correctly. On further investigation they found that it has actually had a new quarter panel skin fitted sometime in its life, so thats why the screen was removed so therfore the hole between panel seams is also due to poor fitting. At first site they had no idea it had a repair because the actuall finished job wsnt bad except these problems. So will be fixed correctly by the end of the week and will be better than before. So there u go u never no wot u got even when the dealer so calls only buying accident free vehicles to sell. Dissapointing its had such a major repair before... So there u go sorry if i offended any1 and FORD as i got up them initially..So if any1 else has a leak that cant be found check windcreen and for old repairs :
