Is the 180 a turbo?

Either way, I'd say it will beat you.

All 180SX's are turbo, its only Silvias come in Q (non turb) and K (turbo) specs.

Also a 95 180SX has the blacktop SR20, with VVT... approx 14.0 1/4 from factory.

bye bye fairmont :

ummm... you would never hit 180 before the 1/4 was up.. Even if you ran it to the limiter, he will have had you long before hand. Sorry to say, but you are well and truly beaten in all arena's by the 180SX, straigline, top speed, handling in tight corners, handling in sweepers.

Take condolence in the fact your insurance premium is 1/2 of his, and your car was cheaper to start with ;)

sure the 180 will cream you but like hotwire said, yours was cheaper, so if you were to spend the difference modding (eg. forced induction, suspension, etc) your car, i'm sure you would be equal or better, so once again falcon ends on top...... maybe

yer true, but dont forget the 180sx is a sports car and a fairmont well...... its more of a family car. If both cars had a full car load i bet it would be a different story.

[E........./.F]

Bullsht guage

I can JUST shut down an R32 GTS-T (exhaust + pod), would have NO show against a 200sx, and lets just say, playing with cat back falcons is not even funny any more

There are many people who will tell u that for even money u could build an eseries car with 4-6 grand of mods and be sneakn up on 13seconds...and thats NA. So going against a light car with a turbo id say a similar costing falcon would equal if not better it. Its all about cost/performance factor i say :

Actually with the update of the 180sx in 1996 a non-turbo model was introduced.

Type X = Turbo SR20DET (151kw, 274nm)
Type S = Non-turbo SR20DE (103kW, 178nm)

Suprisingly the Type-S still fetch very good money today as they are so rare, yet i still see no point in buying a n/a 4 banger import.

The blacktop SR20DET replaced the redtop in 1994 :voldar02:

180sx by far due to power to the weight, your Ghia may have the horsepower advantage by no matter what you do his trans ratio is quicker.

thinking about it, why even ask the question.. just sounds like more saturday night bullcrap street racing to me. if people really want to find out... challenge them to a track day ? If it's honestly that important that you have to know.

Either that or risk impoundment (in vic anyway).

180 would kill a 96 ghia 4litre - simple as that.

EDIT: however if you're actually refering to an upcoming track day, then i retract my comment ? Otherwise :P

Youve got no chance either way.

I used to own a 180 and they are heaps fun. Anything you do to a falcon they will do better, apart from carry people and tow.

Any money you spend modding the falcon, you have to remember that they come stock with a turbo, and respond to mods a LOT more than any NA car.

Even the NA 180s should chop a falc unfortunately too due to lower weight.

Why dont you just have fun and go race him anyway

Easy way to beat him. Race him towing about 2 tonne of Caravan. Otherwise you are toast.
