Default Quick progress update...

Thought i'd give a quick little progress update (mainly to show that i haven't been slacking off :P) And yes i know this thread is useless without pics, but they will be coming tomorrow as it's too dark to take pics now...

The car has been completely sanded smooth including all corners, crevises etc etc. There's a few spots that need a quick lick of primer were the colour shows through a bit, but that's nothing major and will be half a days work tops.

The kit is now glassed up and ready for primer. The air duct on the front bar needed to be reshaped around the edges and also the bumper bar and front skirt needed to be modified a fair bit to accept the cooler. Also, the rear bar has had it's exhaust opening sealed off and smoothed out, so there will be no exhuast tip visible.

So basically next full day we get, we will be priming the whole body kit and any small bits on the car that's needed, then comes the last run of sanding before the car is ready for paint. It's been a Loooong time coming, but it wont be too much longer now...

Stay tuned for some pics

Great work! Does it still drive under its own power?

Pull your finger out and bring it to the cruise on the 16th!

they're hiring a spray booth to spray the car.
only the primer and some small plastic trims will be done in the garage.

Sounding good Steve, that 'invisible exhaust tip' was supposed to be one of my secret mods that I never got around to. I look forward to the pics.

OK here are some pics we took about an hour ago. In the pics you can see that i've run a line of bog between the join. Still need to sand that back, but it was done as the kit was not a perfect match to the bumper and left a fair few gaps. Anyways hopefully the pics will give you an idea of what's to come

Enjoy

Love the shape of the bonnet in this pic

And of course the mandatory pose shot....

Nope :P There was alot of man hours put into that bonnet, and for it to be worth it on our part, we wouldn't accept less than $2000 (no, serously). Best off getting a replica fibreglass one, much much easier and cheaper than what i've done.

Some more progress updates.

Yesterday we took advantage of the good weather and primed absolutely everything, body kit, spoiler, handles, cpillar inserts, side mirror inserts and fuel flap. We also gave the car a quick once over with primer to seal up any bits that were previously rubbed back too much.

here's some pics..

The entire next week will be spent rubbing the car back in 1200grit (the final stage). IF the weather holds out, everything will be ready to paint by next weekend. Fingers crossed guys!!!
