not for the new slimline i dont think. ours just says to plug it straight from box to router. apparently the slim line already has the ethernet card in it.

Yea, I got the slim model network cable plugs right in, I have to play the ps2 through my tv tuner if I want to go online because I dont want to run a ethernet cable the length of my house, which is a bugger because the quality isnt as good. But I only have GT4 at the moment so I havn't gone online yet.

I'll probably get Formula 1 2004 so I'll play that online.

Do you have to have cd to go online?

I ask because in the registration form it says once you complete it you get "network access disc including hardware online arena" what the heck does that mean lol? and on the back its got "unique network access code" what do they mean lol?

Hardware online arena is a game that comes with the network card, it's not a bad game to get started with.
Unique network access code is one of the codes u will need to register with. I have lost mine but i called the playstation help line a few months ago and they said that there was another way of getting online and that Central Station was no longer avaible.

Just beware if you want to play your PS2 online through bigpoo. They say on their website that if you SPECIFICALLY play either SOCOM 1 or Hardware Online Arena online through bigpoo, it will NOT count as usage. This is utter BS. I've been burnt, currently on a 24 month contract, and I'm still waiting from the ombudsman to call back to see where I'm up to. Not happy jan!!!

Maybe I would if GT4 was available for it :P

I don't care which system is technically better, the one I want is determined by what games I can play on it. For example, while the N64 was technically better then the original playstation, the playstation had the games I wanted to play, so there was no good reason for me to purchase an N64.

Besides, I'm not exactly a huge fan of Micro$oft...

Neither, I will never buy a Microsoft console, even if its 3 times as better than anything else on the market.

I think he's referring to the internet services offered by everybody's favourite Howard govt priavtisation excercise. Also called Big Pudd, Big Muddle among others.

There's wireless you know ;)

One company, D-Link I think, sell a little wireless dohickey designed specifically for gaming consoles. Probably a bit on the expensive side for a game console though :P

heh, I've been watching for the last two or three years for once good reason to get an Xbox but so far it hasn't happened yet. Every game that's looked vaguely interesting has ended up getting a PS2 release at some point (probably for economic reasons: with more PS2s out there you stand to make more money releasing a game for it than anything else).

Yeah there seems to be more on PS2 that I'm interested in game wise even if the console itself isn't as good on specs as the xbox.
