Default Trans in Power mode

:1syellow1

Ive noticed something rather odd over the last couple of months, mainly since the MPFI conversion i think....
When I flick the auto into Power mode, the temp rises up to around the R and A section of the spack cluster...... but in Econ mode its down at N/O :yeees:

What the heck is it? is the actual car running hotter in power mode?
It doesnt have a trans cooler BTW

yeah ive got the same problem in mine, i got it looked at and was told that fitting a trans cooler should fix the problem, but in the mean time it shouldnt be anything to worry about

The power switch will make the car run warmer due to the stator being locked up & heating the oil up abit more.
It is normal.

Does the temp slowly increase or is straight away?

BTW, I still have my big trans cooler.

The Temp increases from O to A in the NORMAL area on the Spack Cluster in around 5seconds

What did you want for the Cooler btw?

That's really funny coz I have driven my Fairmont Ghia EL to and from Bathurst (I live in Central Victoria), and I put the trans in power mode in the hills on the way back, but not on the way up and the engine temp didn't change one little bit no matter where the button was. The only change was the engine revs would drop lower in the econ mode before the trans would change, having the trans in power enable the car to maintain speed (in cruise) in the hills a lot bette, but no temp change.

when my car was auto i drove it in power mode all the time and it made no difference to the temperature. it also never had a transmission cooler and had an electronic shift kit.

I have an AU, & i always keep it in Power mode, it's better for the transmission. I don't get any Temperature rise, but i do have a tranny cooler..

my battery wiring was loose at one stage and simply turning the headlights on, or to highbeam even more so, effected the temperature guage (made it jump a letter or so) so i guess it is possible that it's wiring.
