throw it away, get a 2nd hand head and just get it decked... Keep your rocker gear and it should be only around the $200

I'm sure you'll pick up one a lot cheaper than that! EA heads are everywhere, I threw 3 perfectly good ones out at the start of the year purely because I couldn't get rid of em, I tried selling em for $20 each and no one wanted them. I picked up an EF 94AB head from the wreckers complete with cam and rockers for $150. Just find a second handy and get it shaved/machined, shouldn't cost you more than $40 to get it done.

Brand new Castings from ford are $385 inc GST atm, just get one of them, transfer your valves, springs rocker gear etc. over.

I just had a LTD which got really hot, and now both my water and oil are looking like milk, and if it starts it runs rough. There is also water pooring out from the bottom of the radiator.
I've never seen a second hand head for one of these things for $40, if there is somone who has/knows where to get one, I'd be very interested. If the motor has been cooked, and I change the head, is the damage done to the lower end likely to be bad enough to warrant just putting another engine in there? Or should I try and fix the head first, No idea how bad it really is. But I do know that it's badly blown, and pressurised the radiator. Ben Turner |
