hey guys, just joined the forum after browsing for a few weeks. Ive always had a thing for e-series fords and knowing this, my dad bought me a 91' EB Fairmont for my 18th birthday a few weeks ago.
Im planning a few minor mods and upgrades in the near future, and was hoping someone could help me out in finding the parts i need in terms of approximate prices, compatibility between models and companies, how much work it'll take to install, etc. Any help would be much appreciated. At the moment the car is pretty much stock except for a pioneer head unit, and some 16" sports rims with ford centre caps (unlikely to be ford wheels). Ive also got some superlow springs and some red xr side trim, off the car at the moment. The mods im looking at are: lowering find a rear wing/spoiler (only ones ive found are for ef/el) clear front indicators body colour door handles (maybe from a fairmont ghia?) wood grain panels for doors (off NC fairlane?) Sorry for my limited understanding of car terminology but any help would be great and I look forward to being part of these forums in future. |

The mods im looking at are:
lowering find a rear wing/spoiler (only ones ive found are for ef/el) clear front indicators body colour door handles (maybe from a fairmont ghia?) wood grain panels for doors (off NC fairlane?) lowering - you have superlows you say, you will need some shorter shocks to go with those. rear wing - EA Ghia have a rear wing, or if you want a lip spoiler keep looking. clear front indicators - ebay door handles - spray them yourself wood grain - best I know NC is needed (dont like woodgrain personally so not sure)

Lowering Depends on what you get and where you go lowered springs all around should be $400-$500.
Lip spoilers are hard to come buy and and if you find one you will pay $125+ normal basic spoilers you can get fromth e wreckers for around $35. Clear Front Indicators $40 Buy the door hamdles from the wreckers aroudn $5-$10 per door handle and have them colour matched to your car. Wood grain door trims good luck finding those i got lucky and found them at a wreckers every so often they pop up on ebay! SnyperEB

yeh agreed, dont get any spoiler other than the lip spoiler!
as mentioned indicators of ebay, clear repeaters from an AU2. what colour is your car did you say?? sorry for the interuption here: hey EA2BA whats the best way to spray the door handles colour coded yourself? i got quoted $40 per handle which is $160 just to be painted, then they'll charge me another $40 per handle to take them out and put them back in! so thats $320 all up just for colour coded door handles! i can take the front 2 door handles out myself but the rear doors have all that child lock system and brackets in the way. anyone know how to take the rear door handles off then?? once again sorry to side track your thread!

Rear ones drill the plate out and then you can get them out. Go to the wreckers buy another set have them painted then swap em over later. You can use can spray paint to do it yourself, or get a litre made up and use an air compressor.
I changed to EF/EL door handles, so if you like them would be a good chance to do this mod, they bolt straight in to.

first rough em up with some sandpaper, then lots of light coats of primer, wet'n'dry 1200 so nice and smooth, 1 quick light of primer, then same with the colour except a few light coats of paint after wet'n'dry then clear coat, sit in the sun for a few hours, then a few weeks later give em a good buffing to bring up the shine.
As to the difference in handle size, yes you get that, buff/clean it best you can and thats about all you can do.

woah many replies
The cars white, i'll try to get some pics happening soon. I wasnt sure if any of the door handles from an EF/EL would fit straight on but if so, ill see if i can track some down on ebay. As for headlights what do you think, either clear front indicators or get the headlights that i think are on the ED XR's. They have the two small circle lights with a clear indicator on the side. The sort of spolier im looking to get i think is the lip spoiler. Anyone have pics of them? |
