thats actually pretty cheap, not uncommon for the whole kit to go for over $1000+

i know this isn't the same, but it gets you a similar effect at a lesser cost

Yer.... those things look like Sh|t. Its either XR front or stock.

If you really want the XR front you have to be willing to spend the big buck's.

But you never know you can stumble across the odd cheap one every once and awhile but dont hold your breath.

the other thing is, you might find a front cheaper, but it will be stuffed...

looks like that one is in good condition....

That price is pretty good actually. I know it sounds expensive...I had the exact same thought when I first found out, the reason for them being so expensive is that there pretty rare, thats how I see it anyway.

i rekon they're not worth it, they suck at night and they're very fragile. i had a highbeam taken out by a magpie and the globe in the other one blew

do you want them to be indestructable and blind anything in your path?

hitting a bird at speed, you got off lightly

and as for them sucking at night, they cant have been adjusted properly as they're far far better than regular falcon headlights

As having owned a number of e-series from EA to EL the EL XR as my first XR I find that altough the lights may appear smaller they are far more effective far better than my last car (EL GLI)! Definatelyy the most superior headlight setup introduced inh the e-series Falcon!!! Problems with globes etc... may be electrical issues not neccessarily an indication as to the effectiveness of the headlight set-up!!!

I think the reason they might perform better is because they have projectors - to my knowledge no Falcon outside of E series ever has. Should be similar output to an NA-NC Fairlane.

Didn't realise just how much these front ends are worth. Think I'll be investing in a car bra for sure.
Just wondering if anyone here knows if the headlight carriers (part the lamp itself mounts into) can be purchased anywhere? Got a busted adjustment screw on one of mine and can't get the highbeams right no matter what I try.

That front went cheap.
Having had to replace a complete front 2.5 years agoi got one for $1100, Ford wanted $1600 for all new bits.
Out of interest i got another quote last week from ford and the price was looking closer to $1800.
So a good second hand setup is worth paying a little extra.

I stumbled across a set about a year ago ($400) and still haven't figured out how to get them working right. Gotta sort out the wiring so the high beams don't stay on.
They are genuine off an ED XR6 , only 1 cracked lens but the bulb still works.

Any help on the wiring would be very appreciated.

No diode or even a plug for a diode on my 91EA. Only the headlamp circuit breaker then relays. I can see the diagram in Gregory's has an alternative circuit between the relays with the 5 post relay replacing so i'll see if just that fixes it.

the diode plug will be there, as its there on fairlanes....
you have to unbolt the coolant headder tank and go searching for it

Yay!!!!!! all done and working fine now thanks to Troyman on fordmods. It turns out the EA's don't have the diode or even the plug for it. I went to the wreckers and cut the diode and plug out of a fairlane. You have to replace the low beam relay (grey) with a 5 post dual swithing one (blue).

I fitted a female spade terminal to the red/black wire from my diode plug then put it in the empty middle hole for the low beam relay (pushed it on the terminal with a small screwdriver)
The green/yellow wire from the diode plug has to be spliced into the green yellow wire on the highbeam relay. I did this with one of those white crimp style splicers like they use for trailer light etc.

After doing this , the high beams stayed on without the ignition on.
Apparently the EA's have different setup for headlight relays so you have to swap the wire that goes to pin 30 on the low beam relay with pin 87 .
Did this and voilla! all 4 lights are on for high beam.

Cheers for the help!
