was thinking the same but even trying to source the series 2 is hard enough. was looking somewhere round that ratio cos im running a crane cam which is the same cam out of the brute ute's, reccomends no less than 3.5 for optimal performance. didnt know diff settings had anything to do with the cam

the ratio of diff affects ur rpm at whatever speed the cam also gives power at certain rpm. my 1636 gives power from 3500+ so a 3.45 in mine would make me have +200rpm at whatever speed im doing, so if im doing 20, ill get to my 3400 sooner than later and the cam performs better id think...
maybe get a set of 3.88 maybe? just try ebay |

burkie, do you have a T5 or BTR?
The available (shorter) diff ratio setups for your diff include: 3.45 3.7 3.9 4.11 To obtain the RPM at 100kph, first divide your current RPM@100 by your current diff ratio, then multiply this number by the new diff ratio. IE for me it was [1800rpm / 3.27] * 4.11 = ~2250rpm I wouldn't bother with 3.23 --> 3.45 if I were you, you'll hardly notice the difference. |

lol
Well Burkie in light of the resulting couple of posts between myself & prydey, DON'T take my starting RPM (or prydey's resulting RPM) as gospel. However the maths behind the RPM change is 100% correct. So whatever your starting RPM is, divide it by your old diff ratio & multiply it by the new ratio you want ;) |
