Default Australia Wide E_series Meet!!!

I was just wondering if anyone wants to have an australia wide e-series weekend where everyone meets up and we all go for one big cruise. Im not to sure if this has ever been done i just thought of it to see how many people like this idea.

lol....who's footing the towing bill for that one:S
who could honestly say their car would be perfectly fine driving interstate in its current condition

whilst not overly a bad idea, it would be massive to implement......

I'd be confident jumping in mine tomorrow and driving to Perth.

You're right about the logistical side of things though. Hard to implement, but could be something to look at down the track.

Aww come on guys, I'd take either of my E-series interstate without a worry. I took the LTD up to Barmah just over the border near Echuca, and apart from the exhaust falling off because of some stupidly corrugated dirt roads (it's loud enough WITH an exhaust, let alone without it) it didn't give me any dramas whatsoever. Can you imagine driving the battlestar 4 hours back to melbourne with no exhaust? Mrs. Goodz wasn't happy...

The cars would be fine. take some water, a spare couple of belts (or single belt) and away you go..

I wouldn't trust the EA, but i would the ED. If you do organise something i'd be in, as long as there was enough notice prior

SA AFD 2006 involved some Victorian E-Series members making their way to Adelaide. An Aussie-Wide meet sounds rather audacious but maybe scaling it down to an interstate meet involving just two states would be more realistic? (VIC-SA, VIC-NSW, NSW-QLD...)

If we were to hook up with the Perth E-Series crowd, the trip over the Nullabor would be interesting, so many tailshafts lost along the way... Hmm why do I have the sudden impulse to make some fishbowl soup for CruisinEB?

The XR covers interstate travle every few months. All went smooth except the last one when the alternator died... took 6 1/2 hours to cover 300 blooming kms.

Logistics. You would need to find a place that is fair for most members. If it was in melbourne it would just be another bog standard curise with a few people from the sticks showing up. A central location, with member density in mind. You can't ask 50 odd Mebourne guys to drive to Qld (as fun as it would be). Sudney members would need a weekend just to travel to Mebourne and back.

Then you would need to plan a route that could accomodate what would be a lot of cars. Organise Accomodation deals, to make the wallet a bit happier. Decide on an entry fee to cover a BBQ and any costs like that. And hell, may as well get the press onside for a bit of positive advertising, could even donate some money from the entry fee to a local cause as a thankyou for letting us invade their town and help shake any hoon images. And by the sounds of it, get a Hiace full of tools to help out some of the less tried and tested cars.

Plan, and make it a fair ask for all members. It could very well fly.

Instead of all meeting at one point, what about holding a simultanious meet in each state? Would make an interesting feedback thread

I'm not passengering or driving an E-Series to/from Victoria ever again lol. Every time I try they just blow up and don't make it to the intended destination!!

I drove my NA Fairlane from Adelaide to Brisbane and back and it was fine, I drive my waaaaay less km and way better condition EFII Fairmont Ghia to Melbourne and the transmission blows up @ Horsham and drops 3rd and 4th gear!!

And when I flew to Melbourne to pick up an EF 5spd GLi the car was fine until we got to Tailem Bend (bout 150kms out of Adelaide) and the rear main seal completely shat itself and it dumped all its oil!! lol

No deal to E-Series drivin Adelaide-Melbourne.

Now here's a thinking man.
There is now way a national e-series cruise could be pulled off. I have enough trouble just getting QLD members to come to meets in thier own state, in the city they live in!
The similtanious meet in each state, however, could be done. Not quite as elaborate but again the feedback thread would be huge.

This idea is proberly better.

I'd trust my car to travel right around Australia twice without a mechanic looking at it so that side of things isn't a problem.

Only thing I can see wrong with the idea is the cost of petrol and the amount of time it'd take to travel to the first meet place.

I trust the Fairlane to go interstate at the drop of a hat... :P

IF there was one massive meet, my vote would be Bathurst for the big race, that or Summernats.

But I think having each state having a concurrent meet is the way to go at the moment.

When Bathurst comes around we should organize a meet to cruise up there. There can be stops along the way to meet up with other members.

Knowing my car, it would probably make it around Australia, but one or many of the accessories would break at some stage during the trip. It has NEVER broken down on me, it has always remained drivable. Even when it did the headgasket, it was still drivable. The oil just needed regular top-ups. I certainly wouldn't have driven it around Australia in that condition though

my old EA ust to be drama free and could drive it around australia without using a touch of water or oil
