Hey guys,
I just drove home my new (used) ED XR8!!!!: Mate was it a sweet drive home. It's basically completely stock, with only a clutch and headunit change. It was the perfect car, I couldn't say no to it. It's the 1994 Tickford ED XR8, factory manual, Charcoal black, and only cost $9700. Now all I have to do is get it registered under my name, get some new plates and insure it. I'll post up some pics tomorrow, when it gets light outside. |

Here are the pics, I would post them one at a time on the forums, but there are too many and it's easier if you just follow the link.
I'm not sure if it was advertised on the forums, I don't think so. The guy just said that he advertised it once on the Trading Post. I picked the car up from Mooroolbark and had to drive all the way to Mill Park. (A long but very fun drive!). It's in immaculate condition, the only problem I have with it at the moment is that the brake lights don't work. The Rear parkers will come on, but the brake lights won't engage. At first I just thought that the globe was busted, but I've replaced it and there is still no brake lights. The fuse is fine, I've even tried replacing that but to no avail. Does anybody have any clue as to what the problem could be? I bought the car without a RWC, because it was so rare, and the guy kept on saying how he was too busy at work to be able to get the check done. |

Sounds like you may need to replace the brake pedal switch.
If it doesnt have a RWC I'd probably have it given the once over just to be sure, and so you dont have any nasty little surprises when it comes rego time.

Don't worry madmatty, I will.
I'll be off to the wreckers tomorrow to get another switch, (no point getting it from ford spare parts, it will cost 4x as much). Hopefully that's all that's wrong with it. I need to get the RWC, so I can transfer it to my name, and get it insured, just so I can take it for a proper drive! |

Oh the memories. I had the same EDXR8 a few years back as yours, same colour, same interior, manual aswell. Nice mate, just keep an eye on where the clutch cable goes through to the engine bay. The firewall tends to split and crack at that point on the manuals. If it's not split, do something now before it does.

I fixed the problem. Someone had screwed the switch in too far,(and by too far I mean all the way!) so there was no play in the switch, meaning that it could not close the circuit.
I've got a replacement switch now, just in case. (My dad picked it up this morning, while I was asleep, I work nights). Now all I have to do is get the RWC, transfer and insure, then I can cruise around in the car. |
